1 janv. 1517 - The Reformation

Description:

Corruption within the Catholic Church was immensely controversial, and along with theological disputes, political crises and various other factors, a series of theologians wrote their own criticisms of the Catholic Church, and wrote about what they believed Christianity should be like and how it should be practiced. Foremost among these was Martin Luther, whose "Ninety-Five Theses" is often considered the beginning of the reformation.

While earlier writers such as Jan Huss in Bohemia (Czechia) and John Wycliffe in England had expounded on the need for reform and change, it was during the time of Martin Luther and John Calvin where it became a major cause of concern across Europe and many began to follow these ideas, leading to the development of Protestantism.
