Description:
On the flag of Suriname, there are Five bands of green red and white, going horizontally. In the middle of the red band, there is a Yellow star. The green symbolizes hope, fertility, verdant jungles and agricultural lands. Red symbolizes progress and love, and the white symbolizes peace, justice, and freedom. The yellow star represents all of the ethnic groups. Before they adopted this flag, the had a white flag with a white, black, brown, yellow, and red star all connected by a circle. this symbolized their ethnicity.
