When Nicolaus Copernicus proposed the heliocentric model, shifting it from the Ptolemaic model of the Heavens.The Heliocentric model is the findings of Copernicus that the Sun is at the center of the solar system and the rest of the planets, including Earth, revolve around the sun. This was a big change, a paradigm shift, for society as for a long time people believed that Earth was stationary. Society didn't like what Copernicus was suggesting as it was undermining the power of the Cathlic Church and leaning more toward the side of science.
