The Kornilov affair was an attempted military coup d'état by the commander-in-chief of the Russian Army, General Lavr Kornilov, from 10–13 September 1917. Kornilov had been organizing a force of soldiers to move into Petrograd and eliminate the Soviet to restore peace in Petrograd and establish a military dictatorship. The provisional government saw this as a threat and employed the Bolsheviks to unite and face Kornilov. The Bolsheviks made it very hard for Kornilov to have a cohesive push and shortly later Kornilovs forces scattered and he was arrested. This put the Bolsheviks back into a position of power and made the provisional government weak and eventually led to its demise.Ajouté au bande de temps:
