1 mars 1921 - Group Settlement Scheme
Description:
The Group Settlement Scheme was a Government assisted migration scheme targeting British migrants to move to Western Australia. The reason was to use the migrants to develop large areas of farmland and produce more food for Australia.
4 years after the scheme was established, it was realised that only 2,442 farms out of the planned 6,000 had been developed. In addition, the dusty soil in the farms was unfit for grazing or pastures, which led to the end of the scheme by 1930.
