Description:

The Federation is when the 6 colonies of Australia were allowed by the British Parliament to join together and govern their own rights. This achievement had taken a long time, and several referenda.

The Federation happened due to problems in the 6 colonies with different laws, railway gauge, postage stamps and taxes. More reasons were the colonies beginning to think more about immigration, trade, transport and national pride.
In addition to the 6 colonies, Fiji and New Zealand were also part of the federation discussion, but were not included in federation.
