Description:
The First Fleet was a group of 11 ships led by Captain Arthur Phillip, which set sail on May 13th 1787 from Portsmouth, England. They were the first people to found a European colony in Botany Bay and Sydney, Australia. The group of ships held around 1,400 people and basically all of them survived the journey.
People of the First Fleet consisted of women, children, government and military officials, workers, and more than 700 convicts. The convicts were there because the first fleet was supposed to be a penal coloney.
