17 sept. 1939 - Soviets invade Poland
Description:
The Soviet Red Army invades Eastern Poland, the territory beyond the Curzon Line that fell into the Soviet "sphere of influence" according to the secret protocol of the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact; this renders the Polish plan of defense obsolete. Facing a second front, the Polish government concludes that the defense of the Romanian Bridgehead is no longer feasible and orders an emergency evacuation of all troops to neutral Romania.
