Sun Yat Sen declared the political ideology of the GMD in a speech in 1923, called the 'Three Principles of the People' to remove foreign influence and help remove pepole in China from poverty:- National freedom: removing foreigners
- Democracy: pepole control their government through elections
- People's welware: solve problem of poverty by developing industry.
