5 févr. 1898 - Ernest Rutherford names the alpha and beta.

Description:

Ernest Rutherford was a New Zealand-born British Physicist who came to be known as the father of nuclear physics. He is considered to be one of the greatest experimentalists. By studying radiations emitted from uranium, he was able to name the alpha and beta. He estimated atom size and this led him to conclude that mass was concentrated in the nucleus. He experimented by observing the scattering of Helium particles from a thin gold foil.
