27 mars 1908 - Muller v. Oregon

Description:

In Mueller v. Oregon, the Supreme Court upheld an Oregon 10 hour workday law for women laundry workers. The case, argued by Boston attorney Louis Brandeis, was a significant turning point in labor history in that the high Court upheld a worker protection law rather than side with the precedent of business's absolute control of workplace conditions. These two cases, taken together, show the slow but sure impact the "Progressive Movement" was having on the Supreme Court.
