5 sept. 2016 - Amber Heard coming back to Australia for an extended stay to film Aquaman

Description:

FROM THE DAILY TELEGRAPH:
FIVE months after settling her biosecurity breach with the Australian government, Amber Heard looks set to make an extended return trip Down Under.

The Hollywood a-lister will play the female lead in big budget DC comic flick, Aquaman, that is slated to go into pre-production here before Christmas.

And the question is whether or not The Danish Girl starlet will be bringing her pet pooch with her this time round.

It has been a turbulent year for Heard, who recently settled her divorce from disgraced actor Johnny Depp.

The pair were based on the Gold Coast when Depp shot the next Pirates of The Caribbean film.

And before their split in April, the then couple appeared in a bizarre video apologising for breaching Australia’s biosecurity laws when they brought their two Yorkshire terriers — Pistol and Boo — to Queensland on a private jet but failed to declare the animals to customs officials.

While the biosecurity charges were eventually dropped, Heard was placed on a one-month good behaviour bond and paid a fine of $1000 for producing a false document.

When contacted yesterday, the Australian Department of Immigration and Border Protection would not comment on whether or not Heard’s history would impact her visa application.

“The Department does not comment on individual cases.”

Screen Queensland is yet to official announce the production for the Warner Bros studio complex on the Gold Coast.

“Screen Queensland is in talks with a number of productions to support the Queensland government’s commitment to securing back-to-back production in the state,” a statement read.

“There are no new productions to announce at this point, however Screen Queensland pursues all leads that can deliver benefit to the state and support the growth of queensland’s film industry.”

Heard will play Aquaman’s love interest Mera in the film that will star Game Of Thrones hunk Jason Momoa in the lead and will see.

Willem Dafoe and Michael Kenneth Williams are also attached to the project, that is expected to begin filming in the new year.

“It’s interesting. It’s like, half suit of armour, half scales,” Heard told Entertainment Tonight in the US earlier this year of the costume she will be wearing as Mera.

“It’s strange ... We’re in the process of building it now, so it’s coming along.”

Aquaman is not due for release until July, 2018, although the title character made a cameo in Batman v Superman and will be seen in the upcoming Justice League films.

It will be the first DC Warner Bros superhero movie to be shot in Australia since Brian Singer’s Superman Returns was filmed in Sydney and Tamworth in 2005.

Aquaman is the latest in a string of big budget Hollywood movies to be shot in Australia with the next Thor movie currently in production on the Gold Coast and Ridley Scott’s Alien Covenant based at Fox Studios in Sydney.

It was also recently announced Will Gluck’s Peter Rabbit will be shot in Sydney.
