The Australian government ban came after Britain's data watchdog* fined TikTok $23 million for breaching* data protection laws, including using the personal data of children aged under 13 without parental consent. Many schools like Oklahoma State University are also banning tik tok.
The main reason why tik tok is being banned is because they are supposedly taking people's privet information and selling it. It is a security concern. The company denies this though.
