27 déc. 1944 - Battle Of Leyte Gulf

Description:

After the intense battles between The U.S. and Japanese forces, the Japanese are out of planes. They have carriers but no pilots or planes on those carriers. The only thing left for the Japanese is their battleships and destroyers. The U.S. on the other hand has carriers with planes, battleships, and cruisers at their dispute. The U.S. is feeling confident enough to finally target the Philippines. Taking the Philippines will allow the U.S. to have a place to hold resources and get them closer to Japan’s oil supply in Indonesia. The American strategy for taking the Philippines is taking the centrally located island of Leyte. The attack on Leyte Gulf would be split into two groups, one going through the Sulu Sea, and Surigao Strait, approaching Leyte Gulf from the South. The other group would go through the Sibuyan Sea and then through the San Bernardino Straight attacking Leyte Gulf from the North. After the biggest naval battle of mankind, the U.S. came out victorious.
