9/11 was a national tragedy, the largest foreign attack on U.S. soil since Pearl Harbor. Although not directly caused by the U.S. (for all we know), the event led to several wars, invasions, and imperialist ventures in the Middle East by the United States in an attempt to combat terrorism.
