Description:
Following the suprise attack by the Japanese on Pearl Harbor, the U.S. declared war on Japan. This caused Germany and Italy to then declare war on the U.S., officially marking the start of U.S. involvement in World War II. War mobilization occurred on a large scale and millions of American workers supported the war effort through their labor, and this helped to bring the nation out of the Great Depression.
