12 juin 1913 - First Home Electric Refrigerator

Description:

Before refrigerators, people usually just put their food in snow, ice, or colder temperatures. In the 1700s they tried to create an early version of the refrigerator by evaporating the liquid into a gas. The fridges we have today originally had blueprints that date all the way back to the 1800s, but he never built a concept. It wasn’t until 1834 that Jacob Perkins built the first practical refrigerating machine based on Oliver Evans' design to cool temperatures using a vapor compression cycle. In 1851, an American physician named John Gorrie patented a compressed-air refrigerator to cool the air for his yellow fever patients. And in 1876, German engineer Carl von Linden patented the process of liquefying gas that has become part of basic refrigeration technology. In 1913 though Fred W. Wolf made the first home electric refrigerator that had an ice bow unit on the top. This invention is so important because it helps us with all of out food, and will help make more inventions for the future of our country.
