13 sept. 1950 - Amphibious Landing at Inchon
Description:
This was an attempt by the UN to force the North Korea People's Army (NKPA) to retreat from the Republic of South Korea. This was in response to when they (NKPA) had invaded South Korea on June 25, 1950, the first major armed conflict of the Cold War. It was also the beginning of the Korean War that lasted until June 27, 1953. They used aircraft squadrons, destroyers, and cruisers to destroy North Korea's fortifications, coastal artillery batteries, and supply point for two days until the 1st Marine Division was able to seize Inchon. They continued to the Kimpo air base and met up with US troops who were advancing north from the Pusan perimeter, eventually capturing Seoul on the 28th of September.
