Frederick Douglass was invited by William Garrison to share his life's story at a convention in Massachusetts.
Cause: William Garrison was impressed with Douglass' work.
Effect: Impressed by is stories, William hired Douglass as an agent for the MAS (Massachusetts Antislavery Society), which would later allow Frederick to tell his story to numerous crowds in his six-month tour.
