17 nov 1871 - The NRA IS Created
Description:
The National Rifle Association began in 1871 to advocate for American gun rights. Though it was created before WWII, its presence is still felt today. Those who supported the NRA viewed it as protecting the Second Amendment to the Constitution, while those who were against it saw it as promoting the interests of gun makers and lobbyists at at the cost of the public. Polarizers on both sides of politics used the NRA to push their opinion on what was right. NRA supporters emphasized the significance of gun ownership as a constitutional right and a symbol of individual freedom. They argued that any attempt to limit gun ownership was an infringement of this personal freedom. Those against the NRA referred to the rising gun violence taking place in America and claimed that the group was a large part of the growth of weapons and making society less safe.
