13 févr. 1936 - Nye Committee

Description:

1936, created by Congress. It had the job to study how/why the US joined WW1 & the Allies. The committee realized that during the war, the US sold many more weapons to Britain than Germany (Billion to million). This was because of “Merchants of Death” (US arms companies). They also had lobbied Congress to join the Allies (as they stood to make money from it). The Nye committee influenced the US not to have an arms buildup before WW2 (unlike Europe and Japan). US military then fell behind.
