30 oct. 1917 - War Industries Board
Description:
Bernard Baruch was the head of the War Industries Board (newly created, ends after war). It was meant to increase production of war materials. It had power to take charge of private businesses. During the war, the gov had greater control of the economy. Americans prefer laissez faire but most went along with WIB (they usually gave a fair deal to companies).
