Description:
US has to chose where to build a canal; they choose Panama (best option). France sells the canal site to the US for $40 million (they had bought the land earlier but had failed to build a canal).The canal takes 10 years to finish (1904-1914), but it enables ships to go coast to coast much faster; 8k mile turns to 50 mi. Roosevelt takes credit.
