Description:

Feb 1950 Treaty of friendship was signed, and both countries agreed to assist and defend each other.
-USSR gave China a £300 million loan.
-soviet experts and advisors were sent to go and modernise china
-both countries agreed to help each other if they were attacked by japan, or a country associated with japan. This was an indirect threat to America, as it was a Japanese ally.

USA feared that communism would spread in Asia, The policy of containment focused on Europe and any attempt to prevent it spreading in china had failed.
-people accused the spread of communism as Truman's fault for not being tough enough. He responded with NSC68 - report that stated how the USSR aimed to dominate both Europe and Asia
NSC68 prompted the US to expand its military and nuclear weaponary.
