My mother was born in the State of Hidalgo, Mexico. She moved to Mexico City as a child. Because of her indigenous background and poverty, she could not attend school all her life. However, she learned how to read and write in her late 20s. She worked in the manufacturing clothing industry, gaining minimum wages for her labor. She got engaged a second time and had the last three of her seven children. She is now 65 and still lives in Mexico City.
