Description:

The Arizona Ethnic Studies Ban of 2010 occurred when Arizona Governor Jan Brewer passed the HB 2281 Bill which prohibited schools from adding any literature or teachings into the curriculum that promoted the "overthrow of the government"
or that would cause resentment toward a race or class of people. This bill was specifically targeted the Mexican American students in the Tucson Unified School District who were known for their ethnic studies driven education. This ban censored and violated the free speech of these students in order to purposely silence and hide the history of marginalized individuals in the U.S..
