Description:

Without explicitly segregating children in schools, Arizona educators purposely created curriculum and academic lessons in order to further "Americanize" Mexican students. In order to implement this, Arizona specifically Tucson, implemented "beginning English classes" that were taught exclusively on "Mexican schools" with "Mexican classrooms". This practice was intentional in order to other the Mexican heritage these Arizonan children had, forcing them to increase their proximity to whiteness and acculturate themselves to American hegemony and social expectations.
