1 août 1968 - Arizona State University: MASO
Description:
In the fall of 1968, students from ASU, and out-of-state students, mostly California, met with the intention of creating a supportive organization. The primary objective of this organization, with variations modified to each college, was to establish a politically engaged student group that advocates for Mexican American students both on and off campus. One of the reasons why organizations like this are beneficial to Mexican-American students is that they provide a platform to express their concerns and work towards solutions that can positively impact the Latinx community. These student groups also set out to “sensitize Mexican Americans to the Chicano movement.”, the organization was called MASO (Mexican Student Organization)
