Description:

My paternal grandfather, Jesus Ruiz immigrated to the U.S. alongside his brothers through the Bracero Program executive order to aid the labor shortages within the country due to World War 2. My grandfather used to tell me about the hardships that he endured with the health screenings done to him in order to cross over to the U.S. Although he endured many hardships and violence from the American doctors when being checked, the difficulties meant nothing as long as he was helping his family out of their poverty-ridden reality.
