17 mai 1954 - Brown v Board of Education
Description:
Segregation in public schools was unconstitutional. It had been previously justified by the separate but equal belief but this was only an excuse for racial discrimination. Although this was pivotal for the Civil Rights movement it can still be connected to the Chicano movement as the quality and type of education provided to our children at the time were tailored to prepare them for an endless cycle of mindless work. The success of this case also helped give the Chicano movement some momentum and push for equality and equity.
