on March 16, 1968 the Charlie Company, a division of the 11th infantry brigade was sent to the village of My Lai on a search and destroy mission for the Viet Cong that were rumored to be there. Instead, the village was full of women, children, and older men. The men rounded up the villagers and were told to shoot them, despite only finding a few weapons in the village. The men burnt down houses, slaughtered their livestock, and raped some of the women. More than 500 people were killed in the massacre.Ajouté au bande de temps:
