Description:
The Alaska Railroad rail line from Seward to Fairbanks was constructed from 1915 to 1923. The track was created as a way to transport the mined goods from Interior Alaska to the ports in Seward. The State of Alaska purchased the Alaska Railroad from the federal government in 1985.
