Description:

From 1811-1815, there were a huge number of riots carried out by workers in factories during the industrial revolution. These groups who called themselves the Luddites. This was all happening during the time that machines were quickly advancing, and technology was becoming cheaper than hiring laborers. The Luddites feared that their jobs were going to be completely replaced by machines and fought back in outrage against becoming unemployed. The Ludds destroyed machinery and factories in a series of violent outbreaks. The movement manifested in the English country of Nottingham and later spread throughout other parts of Britain. The riots ended around 1815.
