1 juin 1969 - Police Brutality at Fiestas de las Rosas Parade (San Jose)

Description:

At the Fiestas de las Rosas parade, which aimed to celebrate the bicentennial of the “founding” of California by the Spanish in 1769. Chicanx activists decided to peacefully protest the parade. Three hundred policemen along with helicopters were at the parade in anticipation of the protest. Police began beating protesters and a dozen Mexican Americans were taken to the hospital.
