Description:

A slave rebellion by 20 African Americans in South Carolina, who raided a store near Wallace Creek. It was the largest rebellion in Southern Colonies
-result: death of 60 people
-survivors were sold and sent to the West Indies
-causes:
>most of the population of South Carolina were enslaved Africans, called the “Plantation Generation”
>slaves may have wanted to flee to Spanish Florida, which offered freedom to the slaves converting to Catholicism and serving in the colonial militia
> malaria epidemic weakening the power of the slaveholders
