James Drummond Dole graduated from Harvard in 1899. two years later in 1901, he moves to Hawaii and starts growing pineapples on Oahu and created the Hawaiian Pineapple Company. In 1907 he moves his pineapple cannery to Honolulu and in 1911 one of his engineers invents a machine that cores, peels, and cuts pineapples at the speed of 100 pineapples per minute.
