• Take a simple rhythm and throw it off the beat slightly to create syncopations and dissonances

• Proportions: like 2 in one part and 3 in another. Leads to a great deal of dissonance and complextity

• 18th century binding, but actually dated for mid to late 14th C
• “by the compass” included as well; piece looks like a circular compass

c. Musical results:
• Highly dissonant, complex, syncopated
