• Reading rhythmic mode:
o Look at two-note neumes. Usually short-long
o Three note neumes depend on the mode
o Mode V: extended mode. Ternary long
o Mode VI: fractured mode
o Need to look at the ligature pattern
o 3rd and 5th are the most prevalent
