Description:
Against Velázquez's orders, Cortés sets up a settlement and makes himself the chief justice.Some of his men, who are still loyal to Velázquez, attempt to take a ship and return to Cuba. Cortés catches and hangs the ring leaders, then sinks all of the ships so that no one can leave the expedition.
