1 janv. 1512 - Santo Domingo mostly rebuilt

Description:

By 1512, most of the building work was completed and Santo Domingo was officially the capital of Haiti.

Features of the new city:
- Wide roads
- Squares surrounded by large stone buildings which were used as administrative offices
- Courts were set up
- A governor's house was built
- A hospital was built
- Houses were set up for merchants and bankers
- A large cathedral was built (finished in 1540)
