1 févr. 1960 - Sit-ins (February 1 1960

Description:

i. They began when young African American students staged a sit in at a segregated lunch and refused to leave when not given service. they just sat there in peace waiting for food. People would come up to them and threaten them but they just sat there quietly.
ii. The media was the educator due to the countless interviews, demonstrations, and broadcasts. They educated thousands on the behavior of the whites towards the calm and level headed African Americans. It showed the whites as being crazy. This method did work and helped sift people's opinions and pushed them to want change.
iii. The sit-ins did work. They proved the Jim Crow laws certainty, to be flawed.
