Years of research came together on July 16, 1945, when the world’s first nuclear bomb was detonated in the New Mexico desert. History was made and the world was forever changed. The test itself was called Trinity, while the bomb was simple called “the Gadget.” A giant mushroom cloud appeared high in the sky, changing to many different colors, while observers were knocked off their feet from the shockwave blast. The Manhattan Project was successful, and the US was all too eager to demonstrate their newfound power to their enemies.
