1 févr. 1962 - James Meredith enters University of Mississippi
Description:
Blacks were suffering from the discrimination they endured. Many were not allowed to attend school. In 1962, President Kennedy nationalized the Alabama National Guard and sent federal marshals to let James Meredith become the first black person to take classes at the University of Mississippi. This would lead to faster integration as the federal government is the one who stepped in.
