28 juin 1919 - Treaty of Versailles

Description:

The Treaty of Versailles was signed on June 28th, 1919, and officially ended the war between Germany and the Allied Powers. It was produced by the Paris Peace Conference at the end of WW1, and it went into effect on January 10th, 1920.
US President Woodrow Wilson, French Premier Georges Clemencleau, and British Prime Minister David Lloyd George, or the 'big four' were the main people responsible for the Treaty. The Treaty of Versailles included things like reinstating the borders of Germany, which gave certain parts back/to different surrounding countries. Germany was also required to accept all responsibility for starting and causing all the damage in the war, and had to pay billions of dollars in reparations.
The Treaty of Versailles was designed to prevent Germany from repeating its military aggression, however it instead created an economic crisis that eventually led to the rise of Hitler and the beginning of WW2.
