1 janv. 1871 - The New Currency Act
Description:
Inspired by Western economies, the new Meiji regime abolished the many local currencies in Japan, adopting a single national currency known as the “Yen”. This greatly facilitated economic growth, urbanism, inter-regional trade, and allowed for a greater freedom of movement in the country, as the single national currency eliminated unnecessary difficulties and boundaries that prevented these events.
