Description:

ARC: Two new territories being added sparked a lot of debate over the legality of slavery, but this act allowed for popular soveriegty which left some people outrage as they wanted slavery to be completely outlawed in both, or legal in both. It also produced a violent uprising known as “Bleeding Kansas".
MIG: Antislavery and proslavery activists flooded the new territories in order to sway the vote. When it was time to vote for the legality of slavery 1500 men were eligable to vote, but 6000 votes were cast.
