17 juin 1775 - Battle of Bunker Hill

Description:

General Gage proclaimed that all colonists bearing arms were traitors, but he offered to pardon anyone who swore allegiance to him. This angered the Patriots, and they decided to escalate the fight. They fortified the ground on Breed’s Hill near Boston, and Gage sent 2,400 men under General Howe in response. The Patriots killed 92 officers and 1000 more redcoats, and only lost 370 men themselves. The British won the battle, but at a terrible price. This event has no doubt created a rift between the Patriots and the redcoats. If a war begins due to the Patriots’ careless actions, the economy and my business will suffer immensely. Compared to the relatively small burden that Parliament’s taxes cause, such a war is senseless and must be prevented.
