24 févr. 1868 - Andrew Johnson's Impeachment

Description:

Andrew Johnson's impeachment was the result of Stanton's dismissal by the President, this was the last straw for the House Republicans. Johnson was just barely acquitted. As a result for the rest of his term, he was powerless to alter the course of Reconstruction and the US. This is something that the North would agree with, as they saw his plan of Reconstruction as useless and futile. This was a setback from Reconstruction, as it was already too late to change anything.
