The actress and singer looked happy and relaxed as she revealed her new look on a lunch trip with her hairstylist pal John Nollet on Wednesday - amid fresh reports that her longtime partner Johnny Depp is engaged to Amber Heard.
The couple, who are are both French, appeared to be deep in conversation as they sat in the shade on the patio at Aroma Cafe, in Los Angeles, on a hot day.
The 41-year-old singer and actress was barely recognisable with her usually long straight tresses cut in favour of a radically different, short, curly style.
More usually a blonde, the actress is now a brunette but it's hard to tell whether either is her natural colour or not.
The celebrity looked casually chic in a loose-fitting grey linen jacket over a lilac T-shirt, with her khaki trousers tucked into heavy brown ankle boots.
Her lunch date was the stylist responsible for, among many other high-profile looks, Depp's gnarly Captain Jack Sparrow dreads in Pirates of the Caribbean, according to E!
John wore a more formal black jacket and white shirt but dressed the look down with green cargo trousers and a grey wrap.
