1 janv. 1000 - Avicenna
Description:
Avicenna was an Arabian Islamic scholar and doctor. He was considered the most prominent physician of the Islamic Golden Age in Europe, developing Muslim ideas about disease in the Middle Ages, both following Galen's ideas and diverging from his philosophical view of medicine. He revised the knowledge of the ancient scholars through critical thinking and relying on observation and testing, systematized the science of medicine and introduced many ideas and innovations.
He wrote over 450 books on a range of subjects: the most famous was a million word medical textbook called The Canon of Medicine, a medical encyclopaedia which became a standard medical text at many medieval universities in Europe and Islamic countries for 600 years.
